Sense from Nonsense event poster

Kickoff at 7pm sharp. Top floor of the store

We are being bombarded with messages selling us revolutionary treatments and game-changing scientific discoveries when it comes to our health. Charlatans fill us with hope with their science-flavoured books, while the media too often emphasizes unreliable testimonies over scientific data. How can we separate sense from nonsense? The right tools can help us identify good science and warn us against dangerous falsehoods.

About the speaker:
Jonathan Jarry is a science communicator with the McGill Office for Science and Society, dedicated to separating sense from nonsense on the scientific stage. He brings his experience in cancer research, human genetics, rehabilitation research, and forensic biology to the work he does for the public. He is the creator, writer, and host of the YouTube show Cracked Science, which uses a late-night deep-dive format to debunk pseudoscience and denounce bad science. With cardiologist Dr. Christopher Labos, he co-hosts the award-winning medical podcast The Body of Evidence, which aims to contextualize findings in the realm of health research and answer the public’s most pressing questions about the biomedical sciences while also being funny and entertaining. He has been featured on the BBC, CBC, Wired.com, Global TV, RDI, and La Presse.

This is event is free to attend, although we will be asking for donations at the end of the talk.
