Our plan:

We’ll meet at O’Neills in Merchant Square at 11 for a coffee/beer and a quick chinwag, then head off to the festival from there.

What we’re doing and why:

Glasgow Skeptics is an organisation which promotes Science & Understanding, and Critical Thinking. So why are we paying a visit to a Holistic Ways Festival? The answer … because we’re curious:

• We’re curious about the products and services that are on offer.
• We’re curious about the type of ‘regular’ people that go along to things like this
• We’re curious to see what type of claims are being made, and if they hold up to rational inquiry

… with that in mind we’re paying a visit to what promises to be a hotbed of pseudoscience, anti-science, and ‘woo’ in general.

Our visit last year resulted in a complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority and Trading Standards due to some outlandish claims we heard from one of the speakers about his ability to cure cancer!

Please Note: It is important to point out that we are going along purely to observe and perhaps have some polite interactions. We must ensure that we’re respectful at all times, and that we don’t exacerbate the unfortunate negative stereotypes associated with being a Skeptic.
